SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a hinge for furniture or household appliances comprising a side portion on which the hinge part is pivotally mounted by means of at least one guide lever. In this case, a damping device with a rotatable actuating element is provided, which is displaced to the rest position by means of a spring. When the hinge is closed, the first acting portion of the actuating member is actuated to damp the closing movement; for damping the opening motion, the actuating member has a second acting portion.
EFFECT: as a result, an effective damping of the door is achieved in the closing and opening direction.
