FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of engineering geological surveys and can be used to determine the filtration properties of rocks, which is very important in the design and operation of irrigation canals. Method of determining the filtration coefficient consists in that in the vicinity of the current or along the route of the designed irrigation canal, an isolated measuring compartment is torn off, filled with water to depth h1<1.0 m and h2>1.0 m. In each case, a constant level is maintained by periodically fixing the level change and calculating the rate of level triggering until it reaches the steady-state value V1 and V2 only for two values of h. Then, using the obtained data, a graph of linear dependence is built lgV=f(lgh) and according to this graph the filtration coefficient is determined on the basis of the power dependence V=Kfhm when h=1 m.
EFFECT: method allows with minimal labor costs to determine the real value of the filtration coefficient of any rocks of the aeration zone and with its help to calculate the actual water loss from filtration in existing and projected irrigation canals.
