SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, namely cardiology, and can be used to prevent complications associated with vascular disease and its treatment. Administration of antibody that specifically binds IL-1α is useful for reduction of the likelihood of a serious adverse cardiovascular event and a reduction in the incidence of restenosis. According to the invention, the methods comprise the step of administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition comprising a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and an effective amount of an antibody binding to IL-1α.
EFFECT: use of inventions makes it possible to reduce the risk of restenosis and serious adverse cardiovascular events in a patient who has received or is about to receive surgical treatment of the stenosis of a blood vessel.
