FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: fiber formation method is provided. Fibers are formed from a thermoplastic composition comprising a continuous phase, comprising a matrix polymer and additive-nanoinclusion that is at least partially incompatible with the matrix polymer so that it becomes dispersed in the continuous phase in the form of discrete nano-sized phase domains. Method generally comprises passing a bundle of fibers through one or more pulling shafts in contact with a liquid medium (for example, water). In certain embodiments of the invention, for example, pulling shaft (-s) is (are) immersed in a liquid medium.
EFFECT: liquid medium is characterized by a lower temperature than the melting point of the matrix polymer.
