FIELD: biometrics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the biometrics and can be used to identify the individual by the eye iris (EI). Registering the EI color image. Processing the EI image in different spectral ranges with different degrees of detail and generating identification codes by each of them. Person identification fact is determined by the identification codes coincidence given level achievement, which is calculated by the formula: (1), which is set in accordance with the condition: Δmin≤Δ≤Δmax' (2); Δ is the identification codes divergence overall degree; xi, yi are the two compared images i-th identification codes values; σi is the i-th identification code measurement error variance; wi is customizable weight parameter for each identification code, set in accordance with condition (2) with the first start of software that implements the personal identification method by the EI; Δmin is the divergence degree minimum value required to achieve the false-negative errors absence, calculated with the first run of the software that implements the personal identification method by the EI; Δmax is the divergence degree maximum value required to achieve the false-positive errors absence, calculated with the first run of the software that implements the personal identification method by the EI. If there is a discrepancy in one identification code of small detail corresponding to the entire EI, the further comparison is not performed.

EFFECT: method provides increase in the individual identification by EI accuracy and speed through the EI image encoding in various spectral ranges with different degrees of detail.
