Mode control device for the hybrid vehicle comprises a drive source controller, in this case, as the modes of propulsion, a mode is used which is set for driving with low fuel consumption on the basis of information surrounding the movement and economy mode, which controls the source of propulsion so as to prioritize fuel efficiency over power performance. Controller of the source of propulsion links mode selection based on the motion plan with the operation of the economy mode task. Mode based on the movement plan is selected in a state in which the economy mode is not selected and an economy mode is automatically set when a mode is selected based on a movement plan, when a mode selection based on a movement plan is associated with an operation of setting an economy mode.
EFFECT: unexpected engine start is prevented.
