SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a lubricant for facilitating the machining process, comprising: high molecular weight compound (A) having a weight average molecular weight of 5 × 104 or higher and 1 × 106 or lower; weight compound (B) having a weight average molecular weight of 1 × 103 or higher and lower than 5 × 104; and carbon (C) having an average particle size of 100 mcm or more, and a form of carbon (C) is a flake shape.

EFFECT: lubricant is used in the method of machining, which contains the stage of machining of the material of the workpiece with a cutting tool ensuring contact of the lubricant to facilitate the machining process with the cutting tool and/or part of the material of the workpiece to be processed, in which the material of the workpiece contains a fiber reinforced composite material, hard to be machined metal material or composite material made of fiber-reinforced composite material and hard mechanically machined metal material.
