FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to drives for cable cars. Ropeway system comprises transport devices, in particular two cableways. Each transport device includes a vehicle coupled to the rope of the transport device, an electrical machine for driving a rope along movement path comprising an inclined section located between a top point and a bottom point, and an electric car speed control module. Electrical machines are configured to operate either in generator mode, when the vehicle moves along an inclined section in the downward direction, or in engine mode when the vehicle travels along an inclined section in an upward direction. Control modules are configured to transfer electrical energy supplied by the electric machine to the distribution device of the system. Distribution device is configured to distribute the supplied electrical energy between devices of system consumers. Ropeway method is also disclosed.
EFFECT: reduction of electrical power consumption by the ropeway system.
