FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to variants of the method of cleaning glycols from transition metal impurities. One of the variants of the method includes the addition of an alkaline or alkaline earth metal hypophosphite to crude glycols with the formation of a reaction mixture and heating the resulting reaction mixture to a temperature of from 190 to 280 °C, followed by separating the precipitate formed and obtaining purified glycol. Second variant of the method includes an additional step of adding hydrogen peroxide to the purified glycol.
EFFECT: present invention allows to effectively clean the glycols, which contributes to increasing the transparency and reducing the color of the bottom residues of the distillation columns separating the mixture of glycols.
