FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for purification of glycol from carbonyl compounds and/or their acetals, consisting in performance of following stages: a) contact of unpurified glycol with polymer sulfocationic resin, at which MEG formal is converted to TEG formal, and b) rectification in a rectification column with side sampling, wherein MEG formed during conversion is removed with a top product, and TEG formal formed during contact is removed with a bottom product of the rectification column with side sampling.
EFFECT: such a method allows for reduction in a number of carbonyl compounds and/or their acetals, in particular MEG formals and TEG formal, reduction in a glycol chromaticity indicator to 3-10 units by Hazen, and purification of glycols to purity of more than 99%.
