FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of purifying propylene oxide, obtained using the technology of epoxidation of propylene with hydrogen peroxide on a titanium silicalite catalyst (HPPO technology), from impurities of carbonyl compounds (aldehydes and ketones) of general formula R1COR2 and carboxyl compounds (carboxylic acids and esters thereof) of general formula R1COOR2, where R1 – hydrocarbon radical C1-3, and R2 – hydrogen atom or methyl radical. Substance of the method consists in reaction of carbonyl and carboxyl compounds with formaldehyde and alkali, further dissolution of products of their interaction with water and distillation of purified propylene oxide from the obtained mixture.

EFFECT: products formed during chemical purification can be recycled without application of additional special processing technologies.
