FIELD: personal usage items.

SUBSTANCE: curling iron motorised to wind a lock of hair about a barrel offers improved ergonomics by providing a body that surrounds the barrel to form a hair-receiving space accessed through an opening in the body. Opening provides a passage for the hair and comprises a circumferential portion extending about a distal end of the barrel and a slot portion extending axially from the circumferential portion towards the proximal end. Slot portion is disposed at a longitudinal end of the curling iron and is configured for receiving a lock of hair elongated parallel to the slot and pushed in crosswise. Resilient finger mounted to the body projects to normally close the slot portion and hold the lock of hair in the hair-receiving space. Closure sleeve can connect the barrel to the body to allow the barrel to move relative to the body between the open and closed positions for inserting and releasing the lock of hair, respectively.

EFFECT: improved ergonomics.
