FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to inorganic chemistry and can be used in light sources and lighting devices. Particle of a luminescent material is coated with a first coating waterproof layer based on an oxide of metal or on nitride, phosphide or sulphide and a second cover waterproof layer made of a silicon-based polymer or one of AlPO4 and LaPO4. First and second coating layers are translucent. Second coating layer is manufactured by sol-gel technology or nanoparticle suspending technology. As the precursor of the silicon-based polymer, a compound of the following formula is used: , in which R1, R2 and R3 are hydrolyzable alkoxy groups, R4 is selected from linear alkyl groups of C1-C6, hydrolyzable alkoxy groups and a phenyl group or R1, R2 and R3 are selected from -OCH3 and -OC2H5, and R4 is selected from -CH3, -C2H5, -OCH3, -OC2H5 and a phenyl group. This particle of a luminescent material has a diameter of less than 200 mcm. Thickness of the first coating layer is 5–30 nm, the thickness of the second coating layer is 30–80 nm.
EFFECT: inventions make it possible to obtain waterproof and scratch resistant coated luminescent particles in an efficient manner.
