FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the processing of metals by pressure, in particular to the forging of lengthy blanks, and can be used in the manufacture of forgings from structural, special, stainless and hard-to-deform steels and alloys. Workpiece is fed in a pair of strikers and its compression is produced in two passes. Compression is carried out with the displacement of the strikers relative to each other by an amount not exceeding 0.5 of the width of the striker. In this case, the feed rate, equal to the ratio of the width of the contact surface of each striker and the workpiece to the initial height of the workpiece, is 0.5–0.7.
EFFECT: as a result, an increase in the blank extraction in a single pass is provided, while simultaneously improving the structure of the metal due to the intensification of shear deformation.
