SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the operation of vehicles. In the drive control method of the drive wheels, drive braking to the drive wheels is provided by an electric machine, while the engine rotation is stopped. Electric machine provides a negative torque equivalent to the torque produced by engine during deceleration with blocked fuel, providing a braking drive. Device is automatically activated to consume the charge delivered by the electric machine when the electric machine provides drive braking on the drive wheels, and the engine is stopped. Then, upshift the transmission to a certain gear in response to the incline of the road when the vehicle is stationary.

EFFECT: reduced drive wheel wear and friction brakes is provided.
