FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, in particular, to wear-resistant high-manganese steels for pipelines. Composition containing from about 5 to about 40 wt% manganese, from about 0.01 to about 3.0 wt% carbon and the balance is iron, is heated to at least 1,050 °C, then cooled and deformed at a temperature of 700 to 1,050 °C, and quenching or accelerated cooling, or air cooling of the composition is carried out.
EFFECT: resulting steels have a high degree of resistance to wear and/or erosion.
