FIELD: test technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to physico-mechanical testing of rock and semi-rock rocks that have a brittle nature of destruction, and can be used to assess their water strength in engineering geological surveys. Essence of the invention consists in the following. Load dried to constant weight samples with steel counter-spherical indentors in one of two mutually perpendicular directions to the formation of longitudinal cracks and splitting into two parts. Composite samples are collected from debris, placed in a container with a liquid, in which water is used, and loaded into it with spherical indentors before the formation of longitudinal cracks in directions perpendicular to the initial cracks, in the stepwise loading mode with partial unloading to the level reached at the previous load level. Specimens fix the breaking load and measure the surface area of the cracks. Particular values of the tensile stress of the rupture of the samples, the average values of tensile strength when splitting dried and water-saturated samples are determined and a decrease in tensile strength when splitting in a water-saturated state in mutually perpendicular directions according to the formulas.
EFFECT: reducing the duration of determining the strength of the samples, increasing the informativeness of the tests.
