FIELD: mechanical engineering, civil engineering, metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comes to impressing of indenter into material to be tested, recording of kinematic characteristics of impact indentation by transducer and subsequent determination of mechanical properties. Then units of material with minimum values of relative elongation and impact strength are chosen and standards for tensile tests are made of these units. Standards for impact strength tests are made of all tensioned samples, excluding those destructed at testing, and said standards are broken on pendulum impact testing machine. Fractographical analysis of character of fracture is carried out, and i-th sample is determined in fracture of which viscous component is at 80% level, and hardening factor Ki of said sample is found equal to ratio of stress applied to sample to yield limit of said sample registered by breaking test machine, Ki being considered tolerable hardening factor on condition of viscous failure. Physical criterion of strength of material-maximum tolerable stress of condition of viscous failure equal to is determined.
EFFECT: determination of real strength of steel with due account of physical character of its destruction.
