SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method, device and computer-readable storage medium for generating a search query on an electronic device. In the method, the first user input is received in the query field, wherein the first user input includes at least part of the search query, in response to receiving the first user input, displaying a prompt area associated with the first user input, prompts area contains at least one prompt element to form a search query in response to receiving the second user input associated with the prompts area, displaying the movement of the prompts area associated with the first user input relative to the query field, with the possibility of sequentially at least partially combining the prompt elements with a part of the search query in the query field, forming a search query related to the position of the prompt area associated with the first user input, relative to the query field.

EFFECT: technical result consists in automating the formation of a search query.
