FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to audio encoding and decoding devices. At least a first channel audio signal and a second channel audio signal are encoded together using multichannel coding performed using a residual signal, to obtain a first downmix signal and the first residual signal. At least a third channel audio signal and a fourth channel audio signal are encoded together using multichannel coding performed using a residual signal, to obtain a second downmix signal and a second residual signal. First residual signal and a second residual signal are coded together using multichannel coding, which applies similarities and/or dependencies between the residual signals, to obtain a coded representation of the residual signals.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improved efficiency of coding.
