FIELD: measurement technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of diagnostics of the state of existing field pipelines. Problem is solved by measuring the leakage of electric current resulting from the violation of the internal insulating coating of the steel pipe. Proposed method and device consist in radiation of the probing voltage pulses using a generator and measuring the parameters of the current pulse through the internal protective and insulating coating of the pipeline that occurs in the area bounded by two insulating cleaning discs sealed to the body of the in-tube device. To improve the quality of measurements, the parameters of the probe pulses are configured using a controller in the in-line device, which operates according to a specific algorithm, and the device is configured to calibrate at certain levels on models with damage.
EFFECT: invention can be used for the flaw detection of internal protective insulating coatings.
