ELLIPTICAL POLARIZATION ANTENNA Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC H01Q1/28

Abstract RU 2680110 C1

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: antenna includes a cavity resonator containing a cylindrical waveguide and a base overlapping the first end of the waveguide, and a metal disk located inside the resonator with a gap relative to the waveguide and connected to the base with a rectangular metal plate. Inner conductor of the coaxial line is connected to the disk near its edge. In accordance with the invention, the disk is provided with a rim with a height of at least 0.07 λ, passed along the edge of the disk on its side facing the base of the resonator, and the width of the said metal plate is 28–38 % smaller than the diameter of the disk. Second end of the waveguide is covered with a metal partition, equipped with a cross-shaped slit formed by four slots, made in the form of a combination of circular sectors symmetrical with respect to the axis of the waveguide with a central angle from 35 to 45 degrees and coaxially with a small hole. In addition, the antenna is equipped with a metal reflector, made in the form of a truncated cone-shaped form. Lateral surface of the reflector is made in the form of successively placed concentric grooves oriented along the axis of the waveguide and separated from each other by thin edges coaxially with the axis of the waveguide. Two antennas made in accordance with the invention make it possible to ensure stable radio communication between the spacecraft and the ground station in any orientation of the spacecraft relative to the ground station.

EFFECT: development of a space radiocommunication antenna, emitting or receiving electromagnetic waves of elliptical polarization in a wide frequency band, forming near-axisymmetric amplitude and polarization radiation patterns with increased gain and ellipticity values in the polar angle plane θ=90 degrees.
