FIELD: protective devices.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means and methods for protecting people in an emergency situation. Proposed is a method and device for identifying the occurrence of the event of interest. Said device contains a surveillance system, a sensor and an analyzing device. Said surveillance system monitors objects in the environment to generate control data. Said sensor determines the number of variants of the indicator, manifested by at least part of the objects, using data monitoring. Each indicator variant of this number of indicator variants represents a variant of the corresponding event indicator in the aggregate of preselected event indicators. Said analyzing device evaluates this number of indicator variants and additional information to determine whether at least some of the specified number of indicator variants exceed the threshold value for identifying an event, which indicates the occurrence of the event of interest.
