SUBSTANCE: fluid valve comprises valve body (12) having fluid inlet (14) and fluid outlet (16) connected by fluid passageway (18). Valve seat (24) is disposed within the fluid passageway. Fluid control member (26) is movably disposed within the fluid passageway, the fluid control member cooperating with trim assembly (20) to control fluid flow through the fluid passageway. Trim assembly includes cage (22) having a plurality of diamond-shaped openings (40) disposed in wall (38) thereof. Plurality of cage openings (40) may contain one or more diamond-shaped openings (42). Longitudinal axis (60) of diamond-shaped opening (42) is oriented parallel to longitudinal axis (62) of cage (22). Grid (70) is formed between diamond-shaped openings (42). Grid (70) may comprise first leg (72), second leg (74), third leg (76) and fourth leg (78), which intersect in central zone (80).
EFFECT: control valve trim assembly comprising a cage with diamond-shaped openings is disclosed.
