FIELD: lighting.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of low-voltage lighting and includes a boost converter stage and a load. Load may include low voltage light producing elements, including low voltage light emitting diodes. Boost converter stage receives an electronic transformer output signal and includes an inductor coupled to a switch, and a switch controller that receives one or more controller input signals. Inductor current can be returned to the transformer when the switch is closed and supplied to a rectifier coupled to the load when the switch is open. Controller inputs can include an input for the transformer that receives a transformer output signal, a read input indicating the switch current, and an input for the load indicating the voltage on the load. Controller logic circuit can synchronize the supply of a control signal for the switch with the front transitions of the output signal of the transformer to maintain the peak inductor current within a predetermined range and to selectively transfer the energy stored in the inductor to the load or back to the transformer.
EFFECT: switch controller of the boost converter stage is proposed.
