SUBSTANCE: invention is applicable to objects of the oil and gas industry, as well as the chemical, food and other industries where thermal viscous fluids are transported through pipelines. Method and device of subjecting pipelines to electrothermal action carries out the heating of the pipeline by means of heating elements placed on the pipeline, maintaining the temperature of the pumped liquid, each heating element is performed in the form of the first and second conductive plates separated by a dielectric and rolled into a spiral, placed on the pipeline at intervals, for each heating element an additional switching unit is introduced, the conductive cable-inductor placed on the pipeline and forming together with the heating element a single heating component is additionally sequentially connected to the first conductive plate of each heating element, and the power supply is connected to the beginning of the second conductor plate through the switching unit.

EFFECT: invention allows for the implementation of heat loss compensation and emergency heating of pipelines, to increase energy efficiency, automation, industrial and fire safety of heating processes.
