SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of dentifrice compositions and methods for using them. Disclosed is a dentifrice composition containing an effective amount of arginine in a free form or in the form of an orally acceptable salt; effective amount of fluoride ion source; effective amount of a mixture of orally acceptable monophosphate and pyrophosphate salts; in the base for a dentifrice with a silica-free abrasive, free from calcium. Composition contains less than 2 % of calcium by weight of composition; orally acceptable monophosphate salt is selected from sodium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium hydrophosphate and combinations thereof; arginine is present in amount of 4 % to 10 % by weight of the composition, based on the weight of the free base of arginine equivalent to arginine in a salt form. Disclosed also is a method for teeth remineralisation, treating demineralised teeth and enamel injuries, improving teeth mineralization, slowing down or reducing accumulation of plaque, slowing or reducing tooth decay, slowing or reducing erosion of teeth, slowing down or reducing dental hypersensitivity and/or slowing down or reducing gingivitis, including brushing teeth of a subject in need thereof, said composition.

EFFECT: use of a combination of arginine, a fluoride ion source and a mixture of said monophosphate and pyrophosphate salts in a dentifrice composition containing a silica-free abrasive without calcium, provides effective remineralization when the composition is applied on teeth.
