SUBSTANCE: invention relates to acoustics. Device contains an object metadata processor and an object renderer. Object renderer is configured to receive an audio signal. Object metadata processor is configured to receive metadata containing an indication of whether an audio object is screen-related and additionally containing the first position of the audio object. Object metadata processor is configured to calculate the second position of the audio object depending on the first position of the audio object and depending on a screen size, if the audio object is specified in the metadata as screen-related. Object renderer is configured to generate loudspeaker signals depending on the audio object and depending on position information. Object metadata processor is configured to supply the first position of the audio object as position information to the object's means of rendering, if the sound object is indicated in the metadata as not being related to the screen. Object metadata processor is adapted to supply the second position of the audio object as position information to the object renderer, if the audio object is indicated in the metadata as screen-related.
