FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing metal articles and/or products for improving properties of material of said articles and/or products. Method of processing metal articles involves processing at least one metal article in a press device comprising a high pressure vessel, a furnace chamber provided in the high pressure vessel and a loading compartment arranged in the furnace chamber. At least one item to be treated is placed inside the loading compartment and hot isostatic pressing and cementation are performed. Hot isostatic pressing is performed by feeding working medium under pressure into high pressure vessel and increasing pressure in loading compartment, increasing temperature in loading compartment, maintaining increased temperature at first specified temperature level making 800–1500°C, for a selected period of time 0.1 to 6 hours, maintaining increased pressure at a first predetermined pressure level of 20–500 MPa, for a selected period of time of 0.1–8 hours and temperature change from the first predetermined temperature level to the second predetermined temperature level of 600–1200°C. Cementation is performed by supplying high-pressure carbon containing gas into vessel, maintaining second preset temperature level of 600–1200°C, during the selected period of time 0.1–3 hours, temperature decrease in the loading compartment and outlet of the working medium under pressure from the high pressure vessel and reduction of pressure in the loading compartment. Press device for processing metal articles by said method comprises a high pressure vessel, a furnace chamber provided in a high pressure vessel, loading compartment located in furnace chamber, device for supply of working medium under pressure for supply of working medium under pressure into high pressure vessel and gas supply device for gas supply to high pressure vessel.

EFFECT: improved wear resistance and/or impact strength of articles.
