FIELD: fire-fighting equipment.
SUBSTANCE: according to the invention, a fire centre is introduced in the field of view of a thermal imager located on an aircraft, line by line is scanned across the direction of flight, a fire centre is detected on the thermal imager monitor, the range meter is simultaneously determined by the inclined distance to the fire source, inclined range and flight parameters are introduced into computing device and time delay is determined for operation of fire extinguishing liquid discharge system, wherein thermal imager and range finder are arranged on platform, rigidly fixed on aircraft body, are aligned with aircraft structural axis and directed forward in flight direction at viewing angle.
EFFECT: method of extinguishing fire centers from air carriers comprises visual guidance of an aircraft to a fire center and a fire extinguishing fluid drain.
