FIELD: water treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for purification of waste water containing organic compounds of nitrogen and ammonia. Method is realized by NH4+ conversion in an aqueous medium in NO2- by aerobic nitrification, reduction of obtained NO2- in N2O under anaerobic conditions and decomposition of N2O to N2 with release of energy. At the NO2- reduction step up to N2O, mixture of iron (II) sulphate and iron (III) sulphate is used. In a preferable version, said mixture per 3 mol of iron (II) sulphate contains 1 mole of iron (III) sulphate. Aqueous medium is a concentrate, a centrifugate or a filtrate of the process of sludge dehydration.
EFFECT: method provides higher efficiency of removing high concentrations of nitrogen compounds from aqueous media.
