FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition of a catalyst used for synthesis of hydrocarbons C5 and higher from CO and H2 by the Fischer-Tropsch reaction, and a method of producing said catalyst. Catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis contains cobalt as an active component and a porous granular carrier, which includes an oxide-containing component and heat-conducting material in the form of graphite foam, consisting of single fragments with size of 100–200 mcm in width, 250–150 mcm in length and 100–230 nm in thickness, to obtain slot pores in the catalyst in amount of not less than 80 % of the total number of pores in the catalyst, with the following weight ratio of components (% of total weight of the catalyst): cobalt – 10–40 %, oxide-containing component – 16–82 %, graphite foam – 8–64 %. Method of producing the catalyst includes mixing of graphite foam with an oxide-containing component in the presence of a liquid phase, granulating the obtained mixture by extrusion or pelletizing, subsequent heat treatment of the obtained granules to obtain a catalyst carrier and application of the active component onto the granules by impregnation thereof with cobalt salt solution, followed by drying and calcination of the impregnated granules.

EFFECT: obtaining a heat-conducting porous catalyst support for providing intense heat and mass exchange in catalyst granules in order to achieve high efficiency and selectivity of formation of hydrocarbons C5 and higher.
