SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the technology of wastewater purification from metal ions. Method includes treating with a reagent, mixing and separating the precipitate. As a reagent, the products of hardening of magnesia binders obtained by mixing magnesium oxide with single-molar solutions of magnesium chloride or magnesium sulphate in an amount of 50 mg/l are used at a concentration of metal ions in the purified water from 0.1 to 100 mg/l.

EFFECT: reducing the consumption of sorbent, improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the cleaning method due to the expansion of the range of metals to be removed.
