SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an evaporator for producing steam using volcanic magma and method of operation thereof. Evaporator comprises a housing, a funnel for removal of sediment, equipped with a system of level sensors, a water supply channel, a steam discharge channel, wherein the housing lower part, the funnel and the water supply channel portion before the housing inlet are electrically heated. Method comprises feeding water into at least one evaporator, housing of which is arranged at an inclination to the horizon in the crater of the active volcano directly above the magma, control of the sediment removal process, heating of the lower part of the evaporator and/or funnel in case of absence or deceleration of the sediment removal process, heating of the supplied water immediately before the inlet into the evaporator in case of its supply rate deceleration and withdrawal of the produced steam.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at improvement of reliability and stability of process of steam generation with the help of volcanic magma.
