FIELD: medicine; pharmaceuticals.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to a spermicidal pharmaceutical composition for vaginal administration. A spermicidal composition for vaginal administration containing triterpenoid saponins as an active compound, wherein triterpenoid saponins are represented by dry extract of drug styrax pericarp (Styrax officinalis L.) with content of sum of triterpene saponins A, B and C of not less than 27.64 wt%, wherein amount of dry extract of styrax in composition 0.0025–0.025 g per one application.
EFFECT: composition described above has effective spermicidal action for vaginal application, without side effect, stable during storage.
