SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used, for example, in electric drives of feed pumps of power plants or other pump units with a large pressure difference at the inlet and outlet of the pump. Pump unit electric drive control system includes an adjustable synchronous jet engine with independent excitation, and also, according to the invention, additionally comprises a main and auxiliary pumps, a speed-unalterable synchronous motor and a liquid supply control device, comprising a controlled frequency converter, feed controller, current sensors, rotor position sensor of synchronous motor, two switches, two adders and unit of work, wherein pumps are equipped at inlet and outlet with gate valves and additional bypass pipeline with third shutoff valve, pumps are connected in series, wherein the main pump is connected to the speed-unalterable synchronous motor, and the auxiliary pump is connected to the controlled synchronous jet engine. Method of operation of the electric drive control system of the pump unit consists in the fact that with the closed inlet and outlet valves and the open shutoff valve on the bypass pipeline, a synchronous jet motor is connected, fluid is supplied to pumps, synchronous motor is started at synchronous speed and connected to supply mains, inlet and outlet gate valves are opened and shutoff valve is closed; then by means of fluid flow rate regulating device it is adjusted.

EFFECT: expansion of functional capabilities, namely, control of liquid flow rate pumped by pump unit with synchronous jet engine, improvement of operation accuracy of electric drive of pump unit.
