FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, specifically to production of iron-carbon alloys in metallurgical units. Method comprises loading of a metal portion of a charge, melting and draining an iron-carbon melt from a melting furnace with metal fine-tuning by chemical composition with a mixture containing silicon and carbon, wherein mixture of silicon carbide-containing material with SiC content of not less than 70 % is used in amount of 0.5–99.8 wt. % and carbon-containing material in amount of 0.2–99.5 wt. %, which for carbonisation, alloying and deoxidation is supplied at different process stages of obtaining iron-carbon melt in amount determined by expression, wherein said mixture is fed during charging and melting of metal charge at discharge of iron-carbon melt from melting furnace into teeming ladle or ladle.
EFFECT: invention improves production of iron-carbon alloys due to correction of melting technology and bucket treatment for obtaining given brand alloys with preset properties and regulated content of silicon and carbon.
