FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to modification of surface layers of materials by pulsed electron beams and can be used to improve their physical and chemical properties (corrosion resistance, heat resistance, etc.). Proposed device comprises high-current electron gun with explosive emission cathode 1, annular anode 2, pulse solenoid 3 to transfer electron beam and electron beam processed article. Installation before processed article (6.1–6.2) of additional permanent magnet 7 in form of frame or ring, at that direction of magnetic induction vector on surface of magnet facing gun cathode, opposite to direction of magnetic field induction vector generated by pulse solenoid, enables to eliminate defocusing of beam caused by partial displacement of pulse driving magnetic field from processed article due to skin effect, providing energy density of electron beam sufficient for pulsed melting of article surface layer.
EFFECT: technical result is improved operational characteristics of processed articles, for example, massive crystallizers, electrodes of high-voltage vacuum switches, etc.
