FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: high-current electron gun installed in an external master magnetic field comprises the following axially symmetrical components - an explosive emission cathode, a plasma anode, a collector and a tubular metal casing electrically connected to a collector and being a reverse current conductor. To control the shape of the high-current electron beam cross section, the output part of the reverse current conductor is arranged as axially asymmetrical. At the same time the distances between the beam edge and the nearest surfaces of this part of the reverse current conductor do not exceed the beam diameter, and the intensity of the master magnetic field is comparable in value order with the intensity of its beam's own magnetic field. In experiments they managed to convert the round section beam into a beam with a cross section close to rectangular and square ones. Experiments demonstrated that conversion of the beam shape may be done on a comparably short (several cm) final section of a transportation channel.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of electron-beam treatment of products with preservation of its homogeneity due to conversion of the high-current electron beam cross section shape from round into rectangular one.
