FIELD: musical instruments.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to musical instruments, specifically to stepped percussion idiophones, both impact and friction. Percussion idiophone tool comprises U-shaped base in cross section. Latter is made in the form of the first and the second support elements interconnected by at least one crosspiece and spaced at a variable width along the tool length with an angle of convergence. Instrument also includes sound sources in the form of tubes in the number N of a natural row of numbers, in the spectrum of their geometric dimensions and materials, which determines said angle of convergence, and accordingly in the spectrum of their natural oscillation frequencies, which are elastically suspended in the bases of support elements of the base with the same pitch excluding their mutual contact. Tubes are elastically suspended in sockets of support elements with the same pitch. Sockets are made in support elements with the possibility of arrangement of resilient suspensions in them of pipes of the first group in number m and the second group in number n=Nm, respectively, at two levels of depth h1 and h2 not less than d/2, and at different levels in the first and second support elements, so that in the projection of the tool on the transverse vertical plane parallel to each other, at least in plan, tubes of the first group are crossed X-shaped with parallel to each other, at least in plan, tubes of the second group under acute visually distinguishable angle.
