FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of measurement equipment, instrument making, means of protection against oscillations during earthquake and, in particular, can be used for research in the field of seismology. Disclosed is a seismic sensor, working member of which is made in the form of a transparent tightly closed vessel, half filled with a coloured liquid, in which a vertical line with digital metric values along one its edge and millimetre risks along the other edge is vertically installed. Also disclosed is a method of using this seismic sensor, according to which seismic sensors are installed in different places of the analysed seismic zone and places of their installation are marked on a geographical map. After the earthquake, the values of the maximum height of the burst of coloured liquid in the transparent vessels are recorded and, when compared with the linear height values, these values are recorded on the geographic map. Further, the boundaries of the earthquake zone, the source of occurrence of seismic vibrations, the direction of propagation of the seismic wave and the depth of its propagation are determined.
EFFECT: high reliability of a seismic sensor capable of operating under conditions of extremely high seismic vibrations, and as a result, high information value of the obtained data.
