FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to winding of long materials. Winding machine comprises a distributor, a drum and a control device. Control device has a video recording system, a processing unit and a computing unit, a control unit and a command unit. Video recording system receives images of the metal semi-finished product. Processing and computing unit is configured to process images and continuously calculate equivalent diameter of semi-finished product and inclination angle. Inclination angle is formed between feeder outlet axis and instantaneous semi-product winding point on drum. Control and command unit controls the obtained parameters using previously entered reference values of operating parameters. Control and command unit issues coordinated commands to the distributor and the drum displacement and rotation devices. When implementing control method, data of reference working parameters of winding are entered into control and command unit. Images are collected in coordination with winding speed. Images are processed and operating parameters are calculated. Obtained parameters are compared to reference ones. Differences are transformed into coordinated changes of the distributor movement speed and the drum rotation. Dispersion speed and drum rotation are controlled.

EFFECT: providing accuracy of adjustment; preventing occurrence of defects and residual stress; there is no necessity of adaptation at change of section of the semi-finished product.
