FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a power capacitor unit (1) for use in high pressure conditions, for example underwater conditions. Power capacitor unit (1) comprises housing (3), multiple capacitor elements (5–17, 23–35) connected to each other and located inside housing (3), dielectric liquid (L), a system of solid electrical insulation configured to electrically isolate each capacitor element (5–17, 23–35), a collecting bus, a plurality of fusible wires (5a–17a), each fusible wire has first end connected to corresponding capacitor element (5–17, 23–35), and second end connected to busbar (B), wherein capacitor elements (5–17, 23–35), system (41) of solid electrical insulation and fusible wires (5a–17a) are immersed into dielectric liquid (L). Each fusible wire (5a–17a) has multiple first sections, which are in physical contact with electric insulation system, and each fusible wire (5a–17a) has multiple second sections without physical contact with system of solid electrical insulation.

EFFECT: reduced risk of closed circuit formation in case of capacitor element failure.
