FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and a method for synthesis of an olefin-based polymer, preferably an elastomer formed from an olefin, for example butyl rubber, and functionalisation of the polymer in the bulk phase. System includes a polymerisation zone for producing an olefin-based polymer, having a mixing section, a liquid removal section and a neutralization section, wherein at least one section of the polymerisation zone has a defined cross-sectional area, which continuously decreases when moving from the first end to the second end of the section, a volatile substances removal zone comprising a kneading machine or an extruder, wherein the volatile substances removal zone is located after the polymerisation zone and is connected to the polymerisation zone by the liquid channel, and a functionalization zone located after the volatile substances removal zone and connected to the volatile substances removal zone by the liquid channel.
EFFECT: invention provides efficient suspension polymerisation for producing an olefin-based polymer and functionalisation of the obtained polymer product in a bulk phase.
