FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an ionic complex having melanocortin-4 receptor modulator activity containing a cationic polypeptide SEQ ID NO: 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; methoxy(polyethylene glycol 2000)-1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (mPEG-2000-DSPE) and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). Invention relates to use of an ionic complex and a pharmaceutical composition containing such a complex for treating an individual suffering from a disease or disorder sensitive to the pharmacological activity of a cationic polypeptide which is part of the ionic complex.

EFFECT: complex can provide a more desirable pharmacokinetic profile after administration compared to using a cationic polypeptide.
