FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of uranium porous articles. Method involves loading initial uranium hydride powder into a form of hydrogen-resistant material, placing the mold in the reaction chamber, vacuumizing and thermal decomposition of uranium hydride with subsequent sintering. Loading of uranium hydride uranium powder into mold is performed in inert medium. Thermal decomposition of uranium hydride is carried out by continuous heating to temperature of 270–300 °C with stepped temperature increase to 700–750 °C with pitch of 10–20 °C and with holding at each step until gas release ceases. Gas discharge rate from mold is limited at level of not more than 45 cm3/min. Sintering is carried out at a temperature of not less than 760 °C in dynamic vacuum medium at residual pressure in system of not more than 10-3 mm Hg.
EFFECT: obtaining article with homogeneous porous structure with relative porosity from 50 % to 70 %.
