FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a polyalkylamine composition, which is suitable for use in lubricating oils for machines, as demulsifiers for oil-in-water emulsions, a corrosion inhibitor, a fuel additive, a scaling agent, additives to asphalt, additives to lubricating-cooling liquid, antistatic or at intensification of oil extraction from oil wells. Composition contains a mixture of polyalkylamines selected from products of formulas (I) and (II). In formulas (I) and (II), each R, independently of the other R, represents an alkyl or alkenyl residue with 8–22 carbon atoms, n and z independently represent one of 0, 1, 2 or 3, and when z>0, then o and p independently represent one of 0, 1, 2 or 3, or their methylated and / or alkoxylated derivatives. Said mixture contains a) generally at least 3 wt% branched compounds of formula (I) with at least one of n and z>=1 and products of formula (II) with n>=1; and b) in general, at least 5 % by weight of products of formula (I) with n and z=0 and compounds of formula (II) with n=0. Composition has good technical characteristics combined with a favorable viscosity profile.
