SUBSTANCE: present invention concerns alkoxylated hydroxycarboxylic acids, a method for their production, and their use. A mixture with surface-active properties of compounds of the formula (I') is proposed, in which R1 is selected from alkyl with 1-10 carbon atoms, branched saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon residue with 1-30 carbon atoms, linear unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon residue with 1-30 carbon atoms, saturated or unsaturated cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radicals with 3-10 carbon atoms, and aryl; R2 is -CRaRb-CRcRd-, in which each Ra, Rb, Rc, and Rd is independently selected from hydrogen, unsubstituted alkyl with 1-30 carbon atoms, unsubstituted cycloalkyl with 5-7 carbon atoms, and cycloalkyl with 5-7 carbon atoms, which contains 1, 2, or 3 substituents, which are independently selected from alkyl with 1-6 carbon atoms and alkenyl with 2-6 carbon atoms, wherein two residues Ra and Rc, together with the group -CRb-CRd-, to which they are attached, can be cycloalkyl with 5-7 carbon atoms, which is unsubstituted or contains 1, 2, or 3 substitutes, which are independently selected from alkyl with 1-6 carbon atoms and alkenyl with 2-6 carbon atoms; R3 is selected from hydrogen and methyl; X in each case is a bond, or a divalent linear or branched saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon residue with 1-30 carbon atoms, or a divalent saturated or unsaturated cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon residue with 3-10 atoms carbon; k is a number from 2 to 100; n is a number from 1 to 10; and A is hydrogen or cationic equivalent; with the exception of 2-[2-(2-hydroxyethoxy)ethoxy]propanoic acid.
