SUBSTANCE: invention relates to audio encoding and decoding. Converting blocks of spectral values are converted to serial units of time values. Serial blocks of time values are overlapped and summed to obtain decoded audio values. Receiving control information and switching, in response to control information and during conversion, between transformation cores of the first group of transformation kernels and the second group of transformation kernels, wherein the transformation kernels of the first group and the second group are based on the following equation:

wherein at least one transformation core of the first group is based on parameters: cs()=cos() and k0=0.5 or cs()=sin() and k0=0.5. At that, at least one transformation core of the second group is based on parameters: cs()=cos() and k0=0; or cs()=sin() and k0=1.
