SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of checking a plate, in particular a plate cylinder, on the presence of defects of engraving of the plate, comprising the following steps: creating at least two faces using a plate, which must be checked, input of at least one digital image for each of said at least two faces using an image input module, comparing each of the digital images of said at least two faces with a plate pattern cliché pattern, wherein the comparison consists of the following steps: detecting deviations between each of the digital images and the cliché template, verifying that the detected deviations occur in a similar manner on the digital images of all said at least two faces, wherein the defect is indicated as imaginary, if no identical deviations between digital images of said at least two faces are found during comparison, and when finding the same deviations, the defect is indicated as an engraving defect in the plate.

EFFECT: disclosed is a plate inspection method.
